Our New Stadium

The new stadium is on its way. This is an exciting time and a long held dream for the future development of basketball in Queanbeyan and our region.

The design for the new stadium incorporating a full-size championship basketball court and spectator seating has been finalised and a development application submitted to Council. The new stadium will adjoin our existing stadium in Karabar.

In addition to the new court, work will include the replacement of existing toilet and changerooms with new facilities, upgrade to electrical services and new disabled facilities.

Stadium Design

The additional court will enable us to offer new programs, expand times for training, increase the number of teams participating in social competitions, and allow us work with BACT to bring more junior premier league games to the Centre (home-and-away games).

The court will provide for State level competition games and the Waratah winning women’s side will enjoy the improved facilities.

Jenarc has been engaged as the construction project manager. We are planning to tender for builders for construction by the end of this year. The new stadium will be completed by the end of 2026.

Floor Plan

We are conscious to ensure our social and representative teams are not too adversely impacted by the construction process and plans will be put in place to keep the existing stadium operating at all times. There will inevitably be challenging times which we should overcome with your patience and support.

It has taken a great amount of effort to get to this point. Our special thanks go to Steve Whan, MP, Member for Monaro for his full support and for providing the funding for the project. Thanks also to Kenrick Winchester, Mayor QPRC and his staff, and to Basketball NSW for their support and initial funding contribution for the project manager and architects.

We will keep you informed as the project progresses. Copies of the design will be placed on the notice board at the stadium.
